Colton’s Birth Story

posted in: LIFE, MOM LIFE | 0

Hey guys!!

I’m back with so many exciting things to share, including the early and unexpected arrival of Colton Garry Carne! Remember how I said we were going to take more maternity pictures.. ya those didn’t get done in time lol! Oh well I’ll always have the maternity shoot with Sara Jewell Photography to look back on and show Colton one day! Blog post here – in case you missed it.

So here’s Colton’s birth story..

Last Monday morning I got out of bed just before 7 am and my water broke.. it was a bit of a mess to say the least lol.. Jordan asked me if I peed myself.. but I knew sure as heck that was not the case. So I got my stuff together and headed to the hospital.. I was in no rush at this point as I still wasn’t having any kind of contractions. We got to the Hospital around 7:30 am and the contractions started not long after 8 am and they hit full force. By 8:45 am I was already 4 cm dilated. I had Colton in my hometown and the Dr’s here are amazing, they allow you to do whatever you feel most comfortable doing during your labour. So I got into the bathtub since my back labour pains were out of control. The bathtub was a saving grace for me. I stayed in the bathtub for which I believe was about an hour, until the nurses and Jordan could see some of Colton’s head. So at this point I had to get myself out of the tub before I had a water birth lol. As soon as I stepped out of the tub I stood up and gave a couple good (squat) pushes then all I heard was, there’s the head oh wait there’s a BABY!!! Mr. Colton Carne arrived at 10:33 am on January 15th. He weighed 6 lbs 5 ounces and was 21 inches long! Gravity was my best friend that morning to say the least!

I’m so glad I have such a great birth story. I went into the hospital thinking oh boy this is going to be a loooong day. But I just stayed as relaxed as possible, I kept doing my breathing and let my body take control as it knew exactly what it had to do.

We spent the night at the hospital and had to go back again for the night on Friday as Colton had jaundice. It’s been such an amazing week and a half, with our little angel boy (I don’t know what we did to deserve such a good baby!!). He’s seriously an angel you guys I cannot get over it. We had to wake him up in the beginning for feedings and we almost slept in for his Dr’s appointment on Monday lol.

My love for him is already out of this world and I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for our Family!

Such a little bundle of joy!! Thanks for stopping by!
